Senior Spring Break, baby! Day 1: Vancouver

We were up suuuuper early this morning
(Glad we slept near the airport)
And grabbed our flight west…

It’s Jackson’s Senior Spring Break!
After seeing an advertisement while we were skiing in Minnesota
He landed on this—
A trip to the largest ski resort in North America.
We’re headed for Whistler-Blackcomb!

We landed in Vancouver
To spend a day city-ing
(Jackson loves a city).
We dropped our stuff in the rather posh hotel
And hit the streets

Our first stop was Granville Island.
Weirdly, you can walk the bridge to it
But we thought the ferry looked fun

Granville Island is full of little shops and food stands.
We decided to split up for lunch—
Jackson, Weston and Mom got some amazing Thai food
While Dad, Beck and Tuck got some fancy sandwiches and soups

Of course we needed dessert…
We highly recommend Lee’s donuts!
We did some perusing of shops,
Stopped for croissants
(It’s a new obsession),
Were overwhelmed by a crazy
“fever-dream” (Jack’s words)
Of a kids play area,
And finally stopped in for some games and drinks
And a rest of our weary feet.

Hydrated up
And topped off with a few croissants
(They are our new obsession),
We walked off the island

And took the loooong way (thanks for the directions, Jack ;) )
to Stanley Park to see the famed Vancouver Cherry Blossoms

It was a nice little walk…
And it led us to another brewery.
What a happy coincidence!
Awake for over 20 hours,
Bellies full,
7 miles walked,
We crashed HARD that night.
Dreaming of tomorrow…
