Happy Oktoberfest!

What better way to enjoy the beautiful weather
Than to head to Downtown LS
To enjoy some beer, 2 foot-long corndogs,
Shopping and music…
With some friends

And when the kids get bored,
Having the “Huber”
(Aka, Jackson “Hooter” Reed as an Uber)
To drive them home and come back for the parents
Makes the night even MORE enjoyable!
Perks of a teenage.

Some BIG season firsts

We went into this season
Knowing that the first season of tackle football
Would be all about learning.

And there have been some tough lessons
With some really big losses.

We were really excited today
To play another B team
That seemed to be a more-even match for us.

And what a game it was!

We scored our first touchdown of the year
And allowed only one touchdown…
And went to our first overtime.

I missed some tackles
But made more tackles
And even got to play running back

Sadly,
We lost in overtime.
But it was such a fun game.
Good to feel some success today

Cheat Code

Cheat Code—
That’s what Tucker’s football team calls him
He has scored at least 1 touchdown
Every game this season
(Sometimes 2 or 3).

Why do they call him Cheat Code?
Because if you get him the ball

He. Is. Gone.

MVP for the second time this season.
Well earned.

HoCo Fun

We’ve been coming to the LSN Homecoming Parade
For the last few years
But this is the first time we’ve had
MULTIPLE floats and groups to cheer for!

Wes wanted to ride with the swim team
And their fabulous Speedo float
But, alas, Bronco Marching Band takes precedent

He said they told them to look fierce and serious
But he just looked kinda pissed off to us
(See him?  Smack in the middle of the picture,
To the left of the guy in shades)

Jack was riding with Stuco again
And we left with more candy than we could carry.

Everyone did some tailgating for dinner
And it was off to the game

The show has really come alive

Totally because of the front ensemble, am I right?

It wasn’t much of a battle
(Broncos made quick work of the Wildcats)
So we entertained ourselves by stuffing all our parade candy
Into our bellies

And hanging with our friends
And that was all the HoCo for us this weekend.
No hot dates, no one went to the dance—
Maybe next year!

A XC montage

Beckett has been running 5Ks for years—
Sometimes happily and quickly,
Sometimes a bit slower and grumpier.

This cross country season has been a bit similar—
Although definitely a bit more of the former.
While they run 3-4 miles a day at practice,
The races are only 1-1.5 miles.
And he’s ROCKING it!

His first race:
11th place of the B team race,
24th overall

Race 2:
He made B team again
(There was a C and D in this one!)

There were a lot of hills

But he fought through
And came in 34th out of 95 in the B race

And tonight?
8th in the B team race,
21st place overall.
Did I mention I’m running with some of my best friends?
Even better.

My goal is to be top 18 at ETMS—
Then I get to go to some of the invitational meets.
And if my calculations are correct,
I made it there tonight,
Coming in 15th.
But I’m going to keep cutting off the seconds
To be sure I keep my spot!

More PRs

It was a good meet for Wes and Jack today.
Wes swam the 200 free for the first time

All the guys gathered to cheer for him again

He easily won his heat
(the other guy in the picture has another lap)
And came in 6th overall at 2:36.79

Jack added a fraction of a second
But grabbed 3rd place

They both swam the 100 free—
Wes came in 6th at 1:10.57 (his first time swimming this event)
But check out this photo finish for Jackson:
He came in FIRST
With a time of 1 minute flat,
Dropping 2 seconds off his time.
It was awesome.

They both swam both free relays too…
Maybe one of these days they’ll be on the same relay team.
Oh, that would make Mom so happy!

Dust off your stripes…MIZ!

It’s been a 5 years since we came to a Mizzou game—
Mom was determined it was time to venture back.
So we invited the whole fam
And made an event of it.

We had a heck of a tailgate
With more food than we could eat

Smile, Mizzou fans!

The rain seems to be slowing

And the fun is just beginning

Time to hit the shuttle to the game!

We were in high spirits

Even though the weather was questionable

No matter!
Our ponchos and pompoms are waterproof!

The weather held out

And we really got into the game

Marching Mizzou put on a good show
And at this point, you might be wondering
Where OUR marching band kiddo is.
Remember that first marching band competition we mentioned?
Yep.
He’s there.
Back in KC.

So we’re cheering extra loud to make up for our minus 1

It was a great game—
It went into DOUBLE overtime
And the Tigers squeaked it out

With a win in our pocket,
There were only a few things left on the to-do list—
Dinner at Shakespears
A swim in the hotel pool,
Breakfast at Waffle House,
And a trip to campus
It wasn’t the same without Weston,
But it was pretty fun all the same

Another Friday Night Lights

Friday night football is kinda fun—
Bronco football is undefeated
And the Bronco Marching Band show is awesome
Their first competition of the season is tomorrow…
I think they are ready.

We ride

When you get a call for a
Boys’ Poker Night
And a Moms’ Patio Party,
What else is there to say but
Me and my scooter will be right there!

Drummit at the Summit

Today was Weston’s first competition—
And first drumline competition at that
It’s the LSHS-run one—hence the name

They played their halftime show,
The Spark

Mom likes the drumline-only version
better than the full band-version

Apparently, the judges liked it too—
First place for
Crimson Fire Drumline!
