Boys Weekend!!!

Last weekend Mom had to go to Denver for a smart people conference so me, West, and Dad were batch'in it.

On Friday night we went to this cool place where you got to pick out some pottery and paint it anyway you want to. We picked out a new coffee mug for Mom and one for Grandma Phyllis too since she came along to help Dad keep us under control. Then we were ready to make our creations...turns out that I had the attention span of a dog with with a bell tied to its tail. So, Dad got to do most of the work while Grandma kept West and I from breaking everything in the place. Sorry, no pictures, Dad had his hands full.

Then on Saturday, we went to the ZOO. They had all kinds of cool animals: Tigers,

Elephants,

and Weston's favorite, the merekats!

It was pretty cool, but all I cared about was catching another glimpse of the train...DID YOU KNOW THE ZOO HAS A TRAIN?!?

Finally, on Sunday we got to Cabela's. We saw some HUGE catfish and we even got to see feeding time. They dropped a bunch of fishing worms, crawdads, and goldfish in the tanks and the catfish, bass, and turtles went to town. But the real reason we were there was so that Dad could check out the boat he wants to buy next year. West and I got to climb all over it while Dad talked to the sales guy. It was cool. I told him I think it would be okay if we bought it but, I couldn't understand why we didn't take it home with us. Dad said we were just looking and asked if I had any money.

It was a good weekend but, we were all happy to see Mom again!

"The MODOT show"

We went last year,
so we were really excited for this year!

"The MODOT show!"
(aka Big Truck Night)

Do you see this big one, Mom?
I look good on this fire truck.
Don't let them turn the siren on, though!
Tractors are pretty cool, too.
Wes stayed in the stroller.
Hopefully next year he can crawl all over the big trucks too!

Greenish-brown thumb

Well, the last one didn't go very well...

Hopefully, these new seeds and greenhouses from Grandma Janice
turn out a bit better!

Easter take 2

After nap,
we went to Grandma Phyllis's for more egg-hunting fun!

We couldn't wait to get outside!
Eggs were everywhere!

Kayla found a good one
So did Wes!
Check out all the eggs I got
Austin got a ton, too!
After they were all picked up,
it was time to check out our haul.

Look at all the goodies!

Then it was dinner time.

After dinner, Wes helped clean up.
Where are his clothes, you ask?
He had an unfortunate encounter with a blackberry.

Then we all jumped in the bed with Papa
...and played a bit more.

Once we were all in our PJ's,
we finished out the night with a wrestle with Dad.
It was a fun night!

How many days until Easter comes again?

Tricky bunny

We knew she had been here.

The cookie and carrots were gone.
And she left a note...
...and A LOT of eggs!!!
Is it time???
Can we go on an egg hunt???

We were off!
They were everywhere!
Weston figured it all out pretty quick.
Not only did that Easter Bunny leave us eggs,
she also left us a scavenger hunt.

What's it say Aunt Mandy?

"Go to where the blue soap lives?"
There were books and art supplies there!

"Go to where the vacuum sleeps?"
There were our Easter baskets, filled to the brim!

Wes was pretty excited.
Mmmm, baby crack.
(aka yogurt bites)

"Mmm, I'm hungry?"
To the pantry!!!
Gardening tools, games, and toys!
That tricky bunny!

Thanks for everything!
Is there anything else hidden in the house?

Easter projects

Oh, are we going to have some fun today!

First, we have some eggs to dye.
Check out all the colors!

These turned out pretty well!

And then we made cookie sandwiches for my preschool Easter party.
These look great too!
"We're good dyers and bakers, right Mom?"

A small run-in with a large box

After an exhausting (and very early) morning at the Trolley Run,
Mom and Dad put me down for my afternoon nap.

All was quiet at first.
But then, there was a loud crash (or a series of crashes)
and a thud.
Followed by a lot of crying.
I attempted to liberate myself from the prison they call my crib,
but met up with my toy box and apparently every sharp toy in it
on the way down.

How could this have happened you ask?
Since the crib rail was at my shoulders?
And I was asleep when Mom walked out of my room?
And I had never so much as shimmied my leg up the bars before?

I'll never tell.

Everyone runs the Trolley Run

Just Dad and Jack ran the Trolley Run in 2009 and 2010,
but this year,
we ALL ran it!
It was Mom's first race, first run outside (usually it's the treadmill),
and first run with a stroller.
And she had to keep up with Dad.
She was really nervous.

But we all finished!
Official time for the 4 mile course: 41 minutes, 7 seconds.
(Thanks for running slow, Dad!)

I was suppose to take my morning nap during the run,
but I thought it was waaaay more fun to wave at all the people we were passing!
Mom and Jack, resting up after the race

Then, it was time for the Kid's Fun Run.
I was ready!
Dad and I were going to take it all!
I've got this!
The KC T-Bones' mascot even helped me across the finish line!

Then it was Jack's turn.
He was soooo excited...
...at first.

But then, as the flag waved and the announcer said "GO!",
it looked a lot like years past...

Jack decided he didn't want to run.
And there was some crying.
A LOT of crying.

But in the end,
we all finished our races.
Go Team Reed!

Let's go fly a kite!

After the egg hunt,
we grabbed some lunch and headed to the Flights of Fancy kite show.

As a warm-up,
I made a kite.

These are sooooo much cooler than mine!

The Heinz family had a good time...

...and so did we!

We met up with Austin and Mikayla too.
Too fun!

Too cool.
