Jack's 4 and 1/2 birthday

Our friends in Minnesota celebrate half birthdays.
That sounds like a reason to party to me!

Today was my half birthday--
4 and 1/2!

I was a little disappointed that we were
not going out to dinner like we do for real birthday.
But I brightened up when I got to pick dinner...
hotdogs and macaroni!

Dad even made them HALF hotdogs!

We did make a whole pan of brownies, though!
4 and a half!
Where does the time go???

Jackisms and Westers

Mom:  I have to go back to work for a bit tonight.  Bummer, huh?
Jack:  Waaah-waaah
You know the sound of Debbie Downer from SNL?  That was the noise he made.  Hilarious.

Jack:  Why are all those flags up at the cemetery?
Mom:  Well, for Memorial Day, we put up flags to say "thank you" to all the people in the Army that have fought and died for us to keep us safe.
Jack:  But how do the flags say "thank you?"  They don't have eyes or mouths or anything.

Our new favorite Jack song:
Firecracker, firecracker, firecracker, firecracker (and clap to the beat)
If you have a firecracker it goes *clap*
If you don't have a firecracker it goes (hold your hands together if fists and make no noise)
We were impressed.  He came up with that one on his own out of the blue.

Weston won't use yellow legos in his constructions.  If you put one on, he'll yell and take it off.  No idea what that is about.

I love that if you ask Weston to do something, like go downstairs to eat breakfast and he'll say no.  Then you say, "Fine, I'm going anyway" and he immediately changes his mind with "I DOOOO!!!!"

Wes talks in complete, intelligible sentences now.  It's so funny to have a conversation with a 2 year old!  When his drink is gone: "My drink all gone.  I ate it!" or "In the morning, I get up, I get dressed.  We eat breakfast."

Just like Jack looks out for Wes, Wes now looks out for Jack.  When his cousin started picking on him, Wes was right in there, fending off the pushes.  They are truly best friends.

Ain't no mountain high enough...

Or maybe there is...

Arts 'n crafts

Mom was feeling a bit under the weather today,
so we stayed in,
had some pizza,
and made these AWESOME crafts
the Easter Bunny dropped off a while ago...
They were too cute not to share
(Alex Crafts--check them out!!!)

TMI! Be warned!

This is probably WAAAY more than anyone is really interested in seeing.
You've been warned.

Poopy in da potty!
Poopy in da potty!
I was so proud,
I had to share!

"And Mommy proud.
And Daddy proud.
And Jackson proud.
And Weston proud.
And Mommy proud."

(Potty training is going really well,
can you tell?)

The pool is OPEN

We drive past it every day to get the mail.
Every day I ask,
"Pool is ready now?"

Today,
IT WAS!

Our neighborhood kicked off the summer with
an ice cream social
and pool party...
Jack and Daddy enjoyed some tasty treats.

But then,
we couldn't let the party end!

Our new neighbors and long-time friends
Mike, Amber, and Mika
came over for dinner and some play time.

And more ice cream!

And some weird faces...
Welcome Summer!

Jack's Soccer Finale

After 6 weeks of practice and scrimmages,
today was my Big Game!

But, before we could get going,
Weston needed a potty break.

When you gotta go,
you gotta go!

I was excited!!!

So was Aus!

Our fans, however,
seemed more interested in their drinks.

There was a lot of running up and down the field

Obligate oranges at half-time

And more kicking fun

The hardest part of every game
has been the attempt to line up and slap hands at the end...

The BEST PART??!?!
I got a medal!!!

And we finish with another trip
to the Port-a-Potty

Go Team Reed!

First fish of the year

One of our favorite things
is to grab some sandwiches
and head to the lake for an evening dinner cruise.

After some swimming,
we got dried off...

...got our rods out...

...checked our gear...

...grabbed a worm or two...

 ...and threw in a line!!!

Well, Wes was a little less interested.
The worms in his tackle box were a bit more entertaining.

Ahh!  This is the life!

 But wait!
It got even better...
We caught a fish!
(I was a bit hesitant to take my eyes off of it)

He was interesting to look at

And more fun to touch

Then we caught another!
(I'm reeling this one in!)

We let that one go too

And then we caught a THIRD!

Now that caught Weston's attention...

 "My 'toon' Daddy?"

Guess what?

He caught one too!

Diggers and trucks

There's a lot of construction in our neighborhood right now

We packed up Weston's digger
in my truck and set out to see what we could find

Some great dirt for bumping though
and digging up

And a whole lotta' DIGGERS!

SO COOL!

Just 2 brothers,
a truck and a digger,
and the open road!

Have Mercy!

After weeks of waiting,
Mom was finally off-service
and we could go visit her at work.

I had a very specific agenda.

Pancakes for breakfast in the cafeteria,
while listening to the jukebox...check

Seeing the ambulances and climbing through them...check
(Mom forgot her camera for that one!)

Seeing the helicopter...
bummer, it had to leave to pick up a baby.
Maybe next time.

Any-hoo,
see the trains in the Train Room...

...check

Color a picture or two while
drinking a little bottle of water...check.
It may have been Weston's first visit to Mom's work,
but I'm an old-hat at this!

Happy B day take 2

We headed to Grandma Phyllis's
to celebrate Mom's birthday with them.

But before we celebrated Mom,
we celebrated Grandma
with a late Mother's Day gift
Judging by the look on her face,
I think she liked it!

Mom wanted Mexican Chicken more than anything else
for her birthday dinner

Judging by her face,
I'd say she liked it!

We played a bit in the backyard,
digging

and digging some more

a bit of chit-chat too

Then it was on to Mom's other request:
yellow cake with chocolate icing
YUM!

After a bit more playing,
it was time for PJ's...
and some good belly laughs!

Happy 33rd, Mom!
