Jackson Day 2: Tubing into the New Year

We slept in a bit this morning,
hit up Bubba’s next door for some breakfast,
And then headed into town for some windowshoping.
We got our fortunes from Pappy,
Bought way too many sweatshirts,
And then headed home to bundle up
(And get some cars to honk)

Before hitting up Snow King for some tubing!

A new friend in line offered to take our picture
And captured the scene really well
Cold, snowy fun!

Up the magic carpet

So we can head back down!
While I headed down solo,
Dad, Beck, and Wes tried out a group slide

A solo from Jack

And we all met at the bottom
Where Mom couldn’t help but take some pictures

The snowy light makes us look so good!

We had time for a couple rounds.
Our last time down,
We decided to go in big groups

You should have heard Mom cackling
On her ride down with Mema, Pappo,
And Wes
They went FLYING down the hill,
Got some air over the bumps
And made it all the way to the snow stops at the end.
Mom said the look on Pappo’s face was priceless—
She thought he was afraid they might all die
(But he said he loved every minute of it!)

Since the Cowboy Coaster was broken (boo!),
We headed into town to watch the Chiefs pull off a slim win
And try out a new brewery (Roadhouse—check it out!  It’s a good one!)

Before we knew it,
It was time to get all gussied up for our big, fancy dinner out.
Mom made reservations at Gather months ago.

But first,
We headed back to Snow King
for their epic NYE torch parade down the mountain:
It was REALLY cool.
There were hundreds of skiers,
Each holding a torch in each hand,
Snaking their way down the mountain.
Ask Mom about the video!!!

Top it off with some fireworks
And we’re ready for dinner!

Gather was delicious…but waaay more expensive
Than anyone was prepared for.
Guess that’s NYE in Jackson!

We decided that was all the class we could muster for one night
And headed back to our cabins to ring in the new year

Charades and drinks
To welcome in 2024!

Some jaunty hats for our bottles…
And our NYE celebration is complete!

Return to Jackson Hole

Despite the bumps of last year’s NYE vacation,
We decided to try it again
With a trip to Jackson Hole.
It was awesome in the summer—we better check out winter!

So far,
Uneventful.
We tried out a new night-before hotel (lovely),
Had some dinner (fine),
Cheered on Mizzou in their bowl game (boring but they won),
And got a good night’s sleep.
The flights out were on time and smooth (check and check!)

Maybe we can relax!

Dress it up, boys!
Jackson Hole calls for style…

I mean, COME ON!
This is the view from the airport window!

We did some shopping,
Did some brewery tasting,
And then had to do some swimming

How can you not love an indoor/outdoor pool
With hot tubs???
Ahh.  Let’s relax.  This is going to be great.
Let the vacationing, BEGIN!

One last Christmas Hurrah!

We headed for brunch at Mema and Pappo’s house
And after throwing down some egg casserole,
We headed for the gifts

And there were a lot of gifts

Nearly as tall as we were!

Among the weighted blankets
And Kelce jerseys,
Jack got a new helmet for his 4 wheeler
(To be purchased—this is just an amazing placeholder)

But the gift of the day was the
Pappo’s Night Out Gift Pack:
Smokes (candy cigarettes),
Rubbers (Mom had to explain to Beck and Tuck what those were),
A 6 pack of beer (Busch Lite of course),
A cowboy print bow tie (a new fashion of his),
And the T-shirt he talks about all the time
(thanks Grandma Phyllis for making it!):
We can’t wait to see him put it all to good use!

4 things for Christmas

Up bright and early
In our matching jams…
Let’s see what Santa brought!

He didn’t disappoint—
We got a basketball goal for the trampoline he brought last year
And Sonos speakers for our rooms!

And per our tradition,
We got 4 gifts from Mom and Dad…
Although they changed it up a bit this year.

We still got the Something You Want,

Something You Need

They stuck with the Something to Wear

In different variation

But this year,
There was an Adventure to Share

We found a very long chain
And some puzzle pieces

That once we worked together spelled out…
CANCUN!
Hello, Spring Break!
Let the countdown begin!

A very merry Woods Christmas

Mom honed her Pinterest skills
To set a lovely table

Which was happily crammed full of family

23 people!
We may need a different table plan next year!

I graciously sat at the little kids table

Uncle Kurt stopped by for a visit
Once they abandoned me for toys

Speaking of toys…
everyone headed to the basement to play with the old

And the new toys!

And maybe do some wrestling

And dressing up

It was a very merry night

Which may have been helped by the whisky tasting:

One of our favorite nights of the year!
