Senior Spring Break 4: Finding our ski legs…and celebrating Tucker!

Ok, today we felt much better prepared.
We wore a lot fewer clothes.
We packed more water.
And we got to hop on the mountain
From the gondola outside our door.
Feeling good this morning!

Tucker was a little nervous to hit the snow
Without his coach by his side,
But he was pretty darn excited too.
I mean,
TODAY is his birthday!

The lift ticket scanner sang him happy birthday!
It HAS to be a good day!

Mom and Dad wanted to show us all the
Symphony Amphitheater
So that was our first stop…

It was so cool.
Snow and runs for days.

We had to take in the views

Tucker was a bit shaky on his board
And that frustrated him—
But with about 6 hours of snowboarding EVER under his belt,
Mom and Dad were impressed.

The slower crew
Was quickly left by the faster crew

But we all met up at Rendezvous
(Appropriate, right?)
To take a picture with the Olympic rings
(The games were here in 2010)

Before venturing on to the Peak to Peak Gondola
To check out Blackcomb Mountain.

This gondola is amazing—
It held the world record for the longest free span between towers (1.9 miles)
Until 2017.
It still holds the record for highest point above the ground
in a gondola (1430 feet)
Trust us—
It’s HIGH

And the views are gorgeous

Over on Blackcomb,
We found a lot of greens we really liked.

And Tucker found his groove again!

We caught back up with the green/blue skiers
Later in the afternoon…
Sadly, this is the only picture Mom got of Jack skiing…
Or pulling his skis across a very flat section next to the gondolas.
We had fun today!
But the day is young!
We had our Apres

And then got fancied up
For a birthday dinner.
We figured out the Whistler bus system
(Again, we were a hot mess yesterday…and may have way overpaid),
And, as the new pros we are
Took it over to the Village for Hibachi
To celebrate Tucker’s 11th birthday.

There was even a mochi cake bite!

The mochi was…ok.
We stopped at the market for much tastier
Oreo ice cream sandwiches

Snowboarding, Hibachi and ice cream?
AND so many gondola and bus rides?
Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday.
