Making the best of it

Since my brothers have been home,
I'm been at home too
and I've started missing my preschool life.

I was a little excited...
and nervous...
to go back today to get my graduation pictures taken

I warmed up pretty quickly, though

Not the "official" picture,
but it's pretty cute.
I make this look good!

I was excited to see my friends
(there was no social distancing there)
and Ms. Pam

Mom said we'll have a graduation type ceremony
at home soon
but this will do for now!

New "normal"

Everything is just so...weird right now.
We're all at home, all the time,
unless we venture to the cabin.
Mom goes to work.
Dad goes to the store.
Otherwise, we're at home.

BUT,
we've decided there are some silver-linings
to COVID-19.

We're all hanging out together.
Lots of outside time.

We're still getting our schoolwork done
(but it only takes about 1/3 of the time of old school!)

And lessons are a bit more fun
and interactive than they used to be

We're doing lots of art projects

both for school

and just for fun

I'm home from preschool with everyone else
but we've still been having daily lessons
with tracing

and cutting

and puzzles
(I did this one BY MYSELF!)

We've done some cooking

Had both virtual doctor's visits
and ventured out for well-checks in person

Mom even gave a hospital-wide
Grand Rounds for Mizzou...
in her boxers!

There has been a lot of screen time

and Minecraft time

but a lot of outside time too.
Definitely a weird time.
But hopefully memorable too
in it's own weird way.

One last COVID birthday...hopefully...

Don't forget me!
A person doesn't turn 7 every day!

Mom took me
(and Tuck)
to get birthday donuts--
the selection was AWESOME!
Any type you could think of!

And I got a Fliker scooter like Jack!

But wait.
Do I hear honking?

One last social-distancing
birthday parade
with all our favorite people
coming through!

And topping it off with
Olive Garden fettuccini and
an award-winning pumpkin cheesecake?
Doesn't get much better than this!

Change of scenery

We have really come to appreciate
how lucky we are to have the Cabin
to escape to every other weekend.

This weekend was no exception.

Dad had to replace some parts on the Ranger
and then we were off

on a backroad adventure

We had a picnic by the lake

and enjoyed the scenery

We tried our hand at fishing

but collecting rocks was more entertaining
(you can't see it very well,
but Jack wrote our names on each of them)

How about this Batman rock?

Ranger was glad to be out and about

We ALL are!

Pappo and Mema came to join us too!

The weather was perfect for sitting around

enjoying a fire

and hiking the woods
Weekends like this
make everything feel normal again.

From shaggy to handsome

We couldn't remember the last time
we had haircuts.
Dad took the matter literally
into his own hands.

Before

After

Before

love it, work it...

After

YIKES!
Dad may have a new career path...
