Hitting the town

Papo and Gigi
(AKA Grandpa Mike and Grandma Janice)
came over
as per tradition
for pre-party pizza.

And now?
Let's get out there!

There was a lot of walking to do

And LOTS of houses to check out

We said our "pleases" and "thank yous"

And checked out all the cool decorations!
No one braved our friends'
haunted house this year
except for Dad.
Maybe next year.

Beck was excited to me his
"Dino daddy"

We were ALL excited
about the amount of candy we were
bringing in!

Weston's haul

Beck just wanted to roll around in it!

And Jack plotted
how to sell it to passersby...

Definitely a fun night.
Happy Halloween!

Carving pumpkins

We picked them out of the patch
a few weeks ago.
It's about time we made them
into something more!

Dad and I worked hard on mine

Wes and Tuck were busy
scooping out their guts

We tried to get a group picture

But it's hard to get everyone's attention
when they are hard at work!

After some hard work,
it was time to line them up

and take a few pics

in the dark

and then set them outside
for everyone to enjoy!
There were some tears from Tuck--
he wanted to sleep with his.
Maybe in a few days...
(or maybe not...)

Mom's favorite duo

What can I say?
We can save anyone's day!

Gamma Xi Reunion

We had a good time while Mom and Dad
were in Rolla

But I think they had
MORE...

Dad met Trace,
his tricentennial
(Dad is 1255, Trace is 1555)

And Mom met her tricentennial
Isabelle (Mom was 1255B...Isabelle is 1555B...
you get the picture)

They hung out at the fraternity house,
caught up with friends,
relived the old days...
 It was a good weekend.
Maybe it should be less than
20 years until the next one.

Trick-a-Bike

LS Parks and Rec
held their 2nd annual
Trick-a-Bike today.
We were supposed to
trick our our bikes
and ourselves
for a 5 mile loop around Legacy.

So we donned our headbands,
Halloween socks,
and new shirts

wrapped everything in garland and streamers

and set out!

It was a bit windy
but overall a nice ride

When we got back,
the fire department
had stopped by to show off
their truck and ambulance

We had some pancakes and sausage,
played a few games,
and then finished off
the day with a ride home
(a total of 8.5 miles!)

Our Halloween fun
couldn't be complete without
make-your-own pizza and movie night!
Hmm.
I feel a new tradition coming on...

A Halloween tradition

For the last few years,
we've explored the
Night of the Living Farmstead
at Deanna Rose
with Austin and Mikayla.
It's sort of our fall thing.

So we tried on this year's costumes--
the theme this year is
our favorite things:
Tuck's tractor

Beck's dinosaur
(a brachiosaurus to be exact)

Weston is a ninja.
And me?
I decided to be a doctor,
or a vet,
it depends on the day.

We checked out Mad Science
and made some dry ice bubbles
and turned a Cheeto into rocket fuel

There was a hayride,
a flashlight scavenger hunt,
and these cool giant bubble wands

We had a good time,
as usual!

This crew is all warmed up for
Halloween!

Everybody in the pool!

For the first time,
all 4 of us are taking swim lessons.

With Winter Gators around the corner,
Jack and Wes are strengthening their strokes.

It's hard to see,
but Weston's class has races every class.
Weston always wins.
I don't think he told anyone
he's the 12th fastest 7 year old in the city...

Beckett is finally enjoying
swim lessons this year,
staying in the water,
listening to the teachers,
playing the games.
I guess the third time's the charm!

I'm a different story.
Day one started well,
but 10 minutes in,
I just sat on the edge and wouldn't do anything.
I eventually got out and wouldn't go back,
no matter how much Mom tried to reason with me.
Day two was a bit better.
I stayed next to Beck
and made it through most of the class
before getting out.
That water is so cold!

We'll keep you posted
on our progress...

Finishing the season

Our first season
as Lee's Summit Legends
is finishing out strong.

We got a chance
to meet with the LS North soccer coach
and team
and watch a game

Always a highlight of the season

And in our final fall game,
as has been my MO this season,
I played my heart out
with speed and fire.

We've come a long way this year!
Can't wait to see what the winter brings...

Celebrating Dad

An awesome Dad
requires an awesome birthday party.
Or 4...

We had dinner with the Reed side

We had dinner with the Woods side

And we had special cheesecake
(key lime!)
we just us

He's a pretty great guy!

Mom thought it would be fun
to celebrate one more time.
She surprised Dad with
a limo full of all his friends

Out for a joy ride

with Mom too, of course

to the lovely
Overland Park Arboretum
Brewfest

They had a lot of fun

Plenty of beers to try
and foods to savor

Mom and Aunt Mandy
may have had a few rounds
of Nothing Bundt Cakes

There were games

and shinnanigans
(Shane shook up Dad's port-a-potty)

There was also a HUGE storm!
The organizers insisted the event
was rain or shine.
But about halfway through,
they told everyone to move towards
the clubhouse.
Well, Mom and Dad and everyone
didn't get quite enough notice.
A squall line nailed the party!
They said it was crazy
with tents flying and people running everywhere.

It was a bit crazy in the building

But some thunder
didn't dampen their spirits!

Oh, but the aftermath
was rather sad.

The lovely event
was ruined

Something for posterity...

But no worries--
the limo came back for them
and they headed to downtown LS
for some dinner, drinks, and more fun

A ride home in LS's glitziest Uber
topped off the night
Happy 39th birthday, Dad!
