Whoa.
Look what we woke up to this morning.
Hello, St. Maarten!
We had a quick breakfast in the Windjammer
and then we had feet on the island,
ready for today's adventure
It was a little over a half mile walk
but it was worth it
to get to our private catamaran
for another day on the ocean.
This one was about TWICE the size
of yesterday's
with 2 stewards and a captain.
We were even going to have breakfast and lunch served!
Thanks to the banker.
And the bankress (Mema)
We could ride catamarans every day
and this time,
Thea and Kurt came too!
Nice to have everyone all together.
Our first stop was Long Beach,
part of which is owned or at least populated by
Louis Vuitton and his properties.
There were some amazing places right on the beach
where we pulled up
and our crew said it was something like $20,000 a night.
Whoa.
Well, it was beautiful for sure.
We started with some jumping from the boat.
Outta the way, Dad!
My turn!
And then Beck
Jack swam right for the shore.
He LOVES a good sand castle.
While Mom. Tuck and I looked for shells
(which were plentiful),
Dad and Beck did a little snorkeling in the cliffs
2 hours flew past
and we thought we should capture a picture
on this super exclusive beach
before we headed out.
#nofilter
Before we left,
Mom got the courage to jump
(it was about 6 feet down)
followed by Tuck
and even Pappo!!
There were 3 special rums on the boat
(a pomegranate that looked like fish eggs,
a mango ginger
and a vanilla)
that the adults were taking tastes of.
That inspired us to take our own shots...
of water!
Cheers!
On our way to our next stop,
there was a place where planes crossed right over the water,
so low you could feel the wind.
We stopped and waited.
Can you see the little propeller plane?
Not the airliner the captain was hoping for,
but it was fun to see.
Before long,
we arrived at Little Bay
where our captain
(it was something French--we can't remember it!)
promised some amazing snorkeling.
They loaded us up with bread
to feed the fish and we were off!
There was a sunken airplane, helicopter,
and submarine where the fish clearly loved to hide
With a little bread in our hands,
they were EVERYWHERE!
I used my newly learned, deeper diving skills
to check them all out
But we didn't need to dive--
the fish were all over us!
Feeding frenzy!
It was pretty cool.
Coming up for air
Our time was running short,
so we had to head back to the ship
and head back for the dock.
But we enjoyed ourselves on the way.
Tucker made friends with Paula from
the Czech Republic.
She loved the little kids.
Thea was living her best life!
Mom and Dad needed a few pics
before being photobombed
When the ship came into view,
that seemed like a good opportunity for a family pic
We were back on shore
way too soon.
But as a final hurrah,
everyone took a shot of the special rum,
including the captain and crew
(don't worry--us kids had pop)
What a day!
The Klusmeyers hopped a golf cart back
while the rest of us walked
(and maybe shopped).
We had just enough time for a ship pic
before heading in
We were DEVASTATED
to find out we couldn't bring our shells home--
can you see them?
There were conk shells
and beautiful spirals.
Dang. Should have shoved them in our pockets.
There must be some awesome shells in the ocean
just outside the ship.
Ah, well.
We made the obligatory stop by the pool
before heading to dinner.
Tonight,
we had our first ice skating show--1887.
It was...bizarre.
The skating was great.
The story was, hmm.
Difficult to follow?
Non-existant?
Written by a preschooler?
Pappo and Jack thought a nap
was more worthy of their time.
We all perked up at the art scavenger hunt
on the way out
(we won 2 prints!)
before meeting up with the rest of the fam.
Everyone quickly revived with a milkshake
(which is quickly becoming a nightly ritual!)
Mom, Mema, Beck and Tuck headed to
the 70's disco party
while Dad headed to the casino
and we roamed the ship.
The rock wall was open!
B and T had a hayday
and showed up everyone else who climbed that night.
They scurried up faster
and higher than anyone
and then repelled down
so they could go right back up
After all of today's fun,
me, B and T were exhausted.
We were asleep before Mom, Dad and Jack
even left.
Jack was excited to join Mom, Dad and Aunt Mandy
for some karaoke (just watching),
Irish pub night caps,
and Sorrento's pizza
Ah, St. Maarten.
Thanks for an amazing day!
