As we trekked across Arizona,
our path led right past
the Petrified Forest National Park.
How could we not stop in?
There was, of course, lots of petrified wood
but the views were unexpected
Tiponi Point
Kachina Point
Lacey Point
The Teepees
We went for a quick hike through
the Crystal Forest
to see some of the wood
up close and personal
We knew better than to take any wood with us--
there are stories of the bad luck stolen pieces
of petrified wood bring people.
Beckett found a small piece in the parking lot
and brought it with him thinking that would be ok...
but more on that later...
After a stop in Flagstaff to fix the car rental,
we finally made it to the red rocks of Sedona
We got stuck in some horrific traffic
(an hour to go 15 miles!)
but at least the view was gorgeous!
It was second only to the amazing house
and charcuterie board
our host left us
(she felt bad about all our troubles)
We were happy to settle into the house,
play some tag in the yard,
soak in the hot tub,
and finally feel like we were on vacation!
