Mom goes to this place called "Wichita"
once a month to work.
Her friends told her there were lots
of fun things to see and do there.
So, for the second half of Spring Break,
we decided to check this place out.
It was our Christmas gift from Grandma.
BUT...Adam and Michelle had to work
and Grandma and Papa couldn't come right away.
So...
Mom and Dad offered to bring
Kayla and Austin with us.
Oh man, were we excited about that!!!
Load up!
A road trip calls for occasional pit stops,
like this one at a Duncan Donuts
on the toll pike.
Once we rolled into town,
we decided to stop for some lunch
before exploring the city.
We settled on Old Mill Tasty Cafe,
known for their blue plate specials
and milk shakes.
First vacation meal
calls for a picture
and a selfie
and DEFINITELY a milkshake
That was worth a visit!
Next, we headed to Exploration Place,
a children's science museum.
Did you know Wichita is the aerospace
capital of the world?
It's true!
Look it up!
Because of that, there was a big
aeronautics push to this museum.
We got to make paper airplanes
and try to get them through hoops
Austin was really good at it
We tried out wings
to see which was
most aerodynamic
We all got to fly a jet
Eee!
I don't know about that captain
There were lots of
other exhibits.
We got to build dams
see what a tornado feels like
x-ray rocks for dino bones,
do a funny poop puzzle
where you had to match the poop to
the right animal,
slide under lasers
shoot a catapult
and land in the pillory
and how about this cool
wind tunnel?
You could change the baffles
and change the direction the scarves flew
It was such a lovely day,
we headed out for some mini-golf too
We decided to take a walk
around the museum on a trail
along the Arkansas River.
We found this huge astroturf hill
that was just begging for us to roll down
Except I didn't feel like it.
I can't remember why I was upset now.
But it was a big deal at the time.
I livened up just in time
for Tucker to poop out
(he was missing nap...again).
We plopped him in the stroller
and forged on along the trail
to this cool bridge
and through the park
Mountain goat Wes
After all that,
we were hungry.
Did you know Drury Hotels
have a "kick-back"
with lots of food and drinks?
Every night?
We gobbled up our chicken strips
and pasta and nachos
and headed to the pool.
But sadly, we discovered that the
indoor hot tub was broken.
There was a sign that said
"please use the outdoor spa
at your convenience."
What? Outdoor spa?
OUTDOOR SPA!
This became our favorite spot.
Mom's friend Katie
and her husband and boys (Brady and Connor)
came to join us
Whew!
That was a Wichitawesome day!
What's up tomorrow?
