We had some time this morning
Before the gangway goes down in Puerto Rico
So we grabbed some coffees and enjoyed the aqua dome sunshine
And thought we’d try out the rock wall
Lots of scrambling
Tucker making it look easy.
I think he could do it all day
As afternoon arrived,
We were excited to explore a bit of San Juan
It is a beautiful city
Then we grabbed an Uber and headed to the dock
To meet our captain, Francisco.
It was a nice day to be on the water—
Not too hot, not too cool
A bit of sea breeze in our hair
As we headed out for deeper waters
But the trip wasn’t quite what we had hoped for.
We had a lot of lines in the water,
But no poles in our hands
And our boat
Was tossed (thrown?) around continuously in 8-10 foot swells
Tucker’s stomach couldn’t handle it
Jack tried to make conversation with Francisco,
But he wasn’t much of a talker.
Jack resorted to testing his sea legs
And looking pensive
We stayed out the full 4 hours,
Chasing bird piles
(Where they all swarm on the water—that’s supposedly where the fish are!)
And moving back and forth, back and forth
But we caught nothing but a tan.
There was a moment at the very end
Where one of the lines went nuts—
We were SO EXCITED!
But it was seaweed
Pulling the line.
Sigh.
So what are the smiles about?
We’re glad to be back on land!
We wandered back to the ship,
Did a bit of shopping,
And caught a good family picture.
The saving grace of the day—
It’s bao bun night in the Main Dining Room!
That calls for some dress up!
And about 3 servings of buns each.
Day saved.
We met up with everyone at Back to the Future: The Muscial
(No pictures allowed)
Which was better than we expected
(Although very cheesy—and why did it need to be a musical?)
Well,
Our need to go deep sea fishing is extinguished for a while!
Hopefully the seas treat us kinder tomorrow.
