Ready for school...and one more adventure

No more camp.
Summer is down to hours.
We'd better go meet some teachers!

Weston was THRILLED
to have a ton of friends in his class.
Mack is definitely a highlight.

And I am THRILLED
to finally be in kindergarten.
I've only asked about
when I'm starting
for 9 months now.

A whole lotta Huskies,
all ready to go!

Even though there are only hours
left in summer,
Mom and Dad had a few more
tricks up their sleeves.
How about a Royals game?

You bet!

We had our pick of seats

Not terribly busy
as you can see
on a threateningly-rainy
Monday night
on the week school starts
during a rough Royals season...

We put our Blue Crew membership
to good use!
Not only were the tickets free,
but so was the Little K activities!

We played some mini-golf

We all ran to 1st base
Wes:

Jack
(he's way down there)

and me

Tuck loved the carousel

Actually,
we all loved the carousel

Even mature Jack

We ran into some friends
on their way out.
So we borrowed their seats
in the Sonic Blast Zone.
It was kinda cool.
And I think summer
can officially come to a close.

Flying solo

Today is a big day.
Today is my first day
at Winterset Montessori
all by myself.
AND, it's my first fieldtrip
all by myself.

I got to pick out
my very own lunchable.
Mom packed it up for me
(I'm so proud)

and then Grandma Phyllis
and I headed off to
Kalidescope
for some fun.
Being the Big Man on Campus
is pretty cool.

Another bucket list check!

We've been planning to buy ice cream
from the ice cream man
for two summer bucket lists now
with no luck.
So we were THRILLED
when our neighborhood
hired the Kona Ice Truck
to come to our Back-to-School
pool party!

Can't wait!

We each got a cup of snow
and got to add our own flavors

How cool is that???

Yum!

Legends on FIRE!

I'm on a whole new Legends team this year.
My old team was reorganized
so that we are officially playing
like US Soccer rules dictate.
So everyone on my team was born in 2010.
We are U9.
It's taken a bit of adjusting.
I have a new coach,
Coach Derrick,
and a lot of new teammates.

But the Legends philosophy has continued.
I was excited to see how
this season would feel
(we didn't win a single game last year).

So,
here goes nothing!

This first game at least
was totally different.
We scored goal after goal.
We did skills
and blew by the other team.
We won 9 to 2!

We put on a good show
for our Future Legends
Maybe changes isn't so bad.

More watersports...with the Reeds!

How about an impromptu trip to the lake?
YES, PLEASE!

We got a new tube to try out.
All 5 can ride!

Here we go!

Now we're just showing off

We did a lot of surfing this time.
Even Mom got up!
Although as soon as she popped up,
she started asking,
"What am I supposed to do now???"

This time went much smoother than last time.
No one cut anything.
No one had to drive anywhere
in the middle of the night.
It was a whole day
of fun in the sun
and a night full of card playing
and socializing.
That's more like it!

An unwelcome roommate

You can't see it very well,
but this is a bat.
Snoozing on our deck.
The video is better.
We learned in our Ranger Talk
in the Smokies
that bats don't all "carry" rabies.
If they have rabies,
they are sick just like people.
This one didn't appear very sick--
it crawled away
when Dad moved the curtain.
But it didn't leave.
Until he REALLY moved the curtain.
And it flew at Mom's head.
And she peed her pants.
Really.
She didn't want rabies!
It was hilarious.
And unwelcomed.

Numbered days

Can you believe
I only have THREE days
left at Winterset Montessori?

I better live it up!

It's fun to look back
at how far I've come.
I can write my name,
add,
know sight words,
know all my sounds...
and I can roller skate!

I couldn't even make it around
holding on to the wall!

Hang in there, Tuck.
You'll get the hang of it!

Ms. Angela,
it's been a great ride!
Thanks for being my teacher
and friend!
I'll make you proud!

Bucket list take 2

Today Mom and Dad surprised us
with a trip to Summit Waves.

Oh man,
did we live it up!!!

We loved the kids' zone

and all the slides

That was all the pictures we got,
but there was a ton more fun.
I (Beckett) rode the BIG slides for the first time.
I LOVED the body slide.
But when I tried the tube slide,
I fell out of my tube halfway down.
It was a little unsettling to say the least.
I would try that one again today,
but I took on the body slide a few more times.
We rode the lazy river,
jumped off the diving board,
and did a TON of relaxing
(er, sort of).

Check another one off!

Bucket list weekend

Every summer we make a Bucket List
of things we want to do.

We have clicked several off,
but we are running out of summer
with lots left to do!

Today we hit the streetcar
and visited River Market.
Can you believe we've never done this?

We looked at all the produce
and did a little shopping.

We needed a drink
to wet our whistles

After all afternoon downtown,
we cooled off in the
new Lea McKeagan splash pad

The water was FREEZING

but it was still fun

plenty of things to do

and mess with

We're having FUN!

We liked the new playground
even better.
It was basically a huge
ropes course

Everyone climbed

and climbed

and hung

and climbed some more

Lots of good bonding today

Lots of good memories
