We've found our Universal groove--
a more laid-back pace than our previous Disney adventure.
We slept in a bit today
and strolled to City Walk
in our AMAZING sweatshirts
Mema and Pappo got us yesterday.
Do we look like we are on vacation
or what?
You know what else says vacation?
Huge sugary donuts for breakfast.
We had to try out VooDoo Donuts--
everyone has been talking about it.
We decided they were good,
but our hometown Lamar's is better
(and maybe The Big Pink from yesterday)
With bellies full of donuts and yogurt,
we headed to Islands of Adventure
We threw our itinerary to the wind
and just had a go-with-the-flow attitude today.
We started with Seuss World.
The Cat in the Hat ride was cuter then we expected
in a Small World sort of way.
The trolley had a nice, high view of the park.
We rode One Fish Two Fish luckily
just before they turned on the fountains
to make it a water ride.
We walked through the Lost Continent,
which looked really cool but all the rides and shows
were under construction.
We did come across The Mystic Fountain
who was inhabited by Katzbah,
a really feisty God
who knew a LOT of things.
I tried to trick him
but it backfired pretty badly
and he nailed me with a LOT of water.
Ask Mom for the video.
He was a lot of fun.
A day in IoA isn't complete without a second ride
on Hagrid's Motorbike!
And we forgot to take our family picture
on Harry Potter Day in our
Wizards on Vacation shirts
so our Wizard Dinosaur shirts will have to work
We headed to Jurassic Park
and both Beckett AND Jackson
joined us on the VelociCoaster!
We've now doubled (or more?) the number
of coasters Jack has ridden EVER!
And guess what?
He loved it.
(So did B--after we reassured him that
there weren't really velociraptors that were
going to chase us on the ride)
Tucker was bummed he was too short.
But do you know what he isn't too short for?
Climbing up a wall
like a spider monkey!
Mema and Pappo said he was so fast
he got to do it 3 or 4 times
Then we all did the Jurassic Park River Ride
where we got a little wet
but then we ate lunch at a restaurant
right next to it
where we nearly got REALLY wet
on the other side!
We had a blast running from the waves--
it was finally hot enough to enjoy them!
We wandered through Toon Lagoon,
but the water rides were both down
so we headed to Marvel Land.
We all saved the world with Spiderman.
Then we split up and
the thrill seekers (Mom, Dad, me, B and Mema)
tried out Dr. Doom
while Pappo, Jack and Tuck tried Storm Force.
But then WE needed to try out Storm Force too
(which was basically the tea cups!)
The the REAL thrill seekers
(Me, Mom and Dad)
rode Hulk, completing every single ride in the parks.
We re-rode a few more rides
and Jack met up with his friend Matthew
who was randomly also at Universal today.
What could cap off a day like that?
Watching the sun set over Hogwarts
with a few beers
and butterbeers
and watching the Hogwarts light show
We headed to Margaritaville for dinner.
We were hoping for a relaxing dinner on the outdoor patio but
we started with an extremely loud seat under a speaker.
Once we moved to a seat in the back,
it was much better.
Throw in a few balloon animals
and we're happy campers again.
Until Pappo snuck in some blue cheese--
come on!
An extra 50 cents??!?!
(It's an inside joke)
Another epic day!
