Well, it rained again overnight
but the sun decided to peek out this morning
and made our backyard view pretty spectacular
Today we are off to wander and shop...
and find very creepy statues
that look JUST LIKE HARPER!
I mean,
they have the same outfit, the same hair...
creepy.
We had a picnic lunch at a picturesque spot
in downtown
before heading to Pink Jeeps for our big adventure
Ok, not this Pink Jeep
THIS Pink Jeep!
We had to split into 2 jeeps--
this crew got Dan the Man for their driver
and Silent Greg from Boston
while Mom and I got
Rambling James who talked incessantly about
all sorts of weird things
(some of which, we aren't sure were true).
Most of our crew was fun
but we also got odd Yennifer and Chris
and their dog.
Hmm. I think we got the short end of the stick over here.
We'll make due.
I think this will all be just fine--
I mean, look around!
We did the Scenic Rim Tour first,
which is one of the roughest trails...
and we concur.
It was BUMPY!
but it had some awesome views
that required some pictures
of all of us
Then we headed to the iconic
Broken Arrow trail.
This was the trail Mom and Dad did years ago
(13 years??)
when they were here last.
It was definitely the better half of the trip.
We made a stop at Submarine Rock
and got in some pictures and climbing
before the rain came in
which did make for some good pictures
While pictures of the jeeps were good
These pictures that James suggested
were even better:
Hold on!!!
FYI...
it's an illusion.
They are no where close to the edge.
Our last stop was Chicken Point Overlook
where the rain cleared a bit
and the rocks shone
The views were awesome.
The bumps were fun.
But hold on...it's about to get real.
Danelle--less than excited.
We had to go down a few rocks
and the Road of No Return
(or maybe the Devil's Staircase--
depends on who you asked)
We were at a nearly 90 degree angle at times
The crowd loved it
Here's the best picture of the day:
It's not a reflection--
that is 2 jeeps,
pushed by 2 groups of
THE SAME KIDS.
How did we do it?
We'll never tell.
Complete the day
with some tasty grub
and some games
and we'll call it a success!
