Crafty Grandma J

There's always a plan when
Grandma J comes over for the day.

Today, we painted birdhouses

What do you think, Grandma?

Beckett was a little miffed to be left out.
Some finger painting was in order.

All the boys,
hard at work.

A day or two later,
they were dry, filled,
and ready to be hung!

I'm pretty proud of my multi-color design

Here, birdy, birdy, birdy!
We're open for business!

Now,
LET'S SWING!

We might just work up an appetite
for some birdseed!

Some down time

It's hard to believe summer is coming to an end!!!

We're living it up!

Our garden is finally producing
(we have had a few strawberries too!)

Hiking at James A. Reed

Check out the size of this tree!

Soccer season has started again!
(Jack and I are BOTH playing in the big league this year!)

There has been some singing in the rain

All this humidity is giving B a bad hair day

My mini-faux-hawk

Playing in the backyard

Jack learning to "skin the cat"

It's been a great summer!

A day for Weston

Every Wednesday,
we drive past the farmers' market
on the way to preschool.
And I suggest we stop in,
but we don't have time.

Guess what?
We had time today!
 We got zucchini, jalapeƱos,
blackberries, cherry tomatoes, and honey.
And a lot of fun wandering around.

Even better than the farmers' market?
We stopped to get my T-ball medal.
So proud.

Headed home

It has been an awesome week.
But all good things come to an end.
Time to drive back home.

We wanted to take the ferry
across the Mobile Bay to Mobile,
but the wait was over and hour.

So we started driving.

Vacation was exhausting

But worth every minute

We stopped mid-way in Little Rock.
It was really late (~10:00) because of all the traffic.
Half-way?
This calls for a drink!

Ahhh.  If I could just rest my head.

We shut the restaurant down.
But we were in good spirits the whole time!
Probably delirious from all that fun...

Golfin'

We took a day off from the beach this morning
to try out some Tiki Mini-Golf

Check out my swing!

Beck helped Dad

It was a nice change of pace

And always fun when you are
with your favorite people!

After a tasty seafood lunch,
we found this inlet full of fish.
Of course we had to feed them!

Do you think they would nibble
Weston's toes?

There was a boardwalk to stroll on as well

Beck and Kaitlyn, chillin'

He had to have a turn too!
Ok, now back to the beach!

Workin'

You know,
it wasn't all about the water this vacation.

We made pillowcases,
water bottles,
and bracelets

And Kaitlyn and I cooked dinner one night
(like our chef hats?)
Vacation keeps you busy!

Crabbin'

It's nightfall at the beach...
Nothing left to do now but...

GO CRAB HUNTING!

We brought all our glow-in-the-dark gear
for good luck
( and parental supervison)

Well, our first night wasn't very successful:
some fish

and more jellies

but it was fun to let the fish
flop around in our hands!

The next night,
we headed out a bit earlier

It was a bit easier to comb the beach with some daylight

Serious crabbers

Watching the sun fade

Packin' Beck

the sand in our toes

We were much more successful tonight--
we caught 2-3 big ones (the size of your hand)
and 8-9 tiny ones (the size of a spider)

We were more successful with Beckett's sleep too

Look!  Do you see one?

Ha, ha!  Got you now!

None large enough to eat,
but a lot of fun was had by all!
