Middle School Swim take 2

Tonight is the second middle school swim meet.
They’ve added a few new events to the mix.
Beckett swam the 100 free tonight for the first time ever.
Getting in his zone…
He came in 20th,
Pretty low in the event.
His time was 1:23.57.
We’re learning he is not a distance swimmer.
It also didn’t help that he jumped out of the pool
From his free relay and immediately got back on the blocks for this event.

He swam his favorite event again too—
The 50 breaststroke.
Not a PR,
But he did take 1st!

Looking forward to next weekend…

Celebrating the wrestling season

We all gathered with BBQ and more desserts
Than even a high school wrestling team can eat
And celebrated a successful building season
For the Broncos.
It was the largest Freshman class they’d ever had

Weston’s biggest fan even stopped by
To celebrate!
He finished the season with 11 wins and 7 losses
And an impressive 7 pins.
Pretty good for his first season!

Not sure he’ll maintain the 106 weight class
But looking forward to what next year will bring!

Greatness paying off

Tonight we gathered for Jackson’s NHS induction—
Meet the class of 2026

A pretty proud moment

A pretty proud family
(Weston is at his wrestling banquet
And Beckett is at football—
They send their love)

You may even be looking at the next
President of NHS

Let the campaign begin!

Robotics kick off…and a Dean’s List Finalist

The Broncobots season kicked off this weekend
With Jackson working the media

And Weston as the human player

Something else for brothers to bond over

Jackson and his IMPACT team worked to wow the judges

But the big event was Jackson’s interview for Dean’s List.
He’s one of 2 nominees from the Broncobots
And up against nominees from all the other teams at the competition.

AND HE WON!!!!!
No longs a Dean’s List Semifinalist
But a Finalist!!!
Qualified for World’s!
Dang, Jackson.
We couldn’t be prouder.

The Kings’ finale

Because they won both games last week,
The Kings have fought their way into championship play.
They were determined to win a medal,
Awarded to the top 3 teams.

Tucker had the first point on the board in the first game
But the #1 seed team proved too much for them.
Unfortunately, the 3rd place game didn’t land in their favor either.
Kings took 4th.

But they clearly had a lot of fun

And made another season of memories.

Our first Bison Swim Team meet

There wasn’t a middle school swim team when Jackson was there
And Weston wasn’t interested
So Beckett got to be the trail-blazer on this activity.

After a few weeks of practice,
Tonight was the first meet.
Everyone swam all 4 strokes.
We weren’t sure how Beck would do,
Being the 11 year old in a meet with 11-14 year olds.

Shocker, he held his own
With PRs in all 4 strokes.

He came in 17th in free, taking off 2.74s for a new PR of 32.41s.
He came in 16th in fly, taking off 3.70s for a new PR of 42.69s.
He came in 17th in back, taking off 1.70s for a new PR of 42.30s.

And the definite finale (and his favorite stroke),
He came in 4th taking off 1.31s with a new PR of 40.46s.
He was the shortest by nearly a foot in his heat—
Imagine how fast he’ll be when he’s their height!

A politician in the making

Jackson wrote his bill for YIG
About funding robotics in high schools across Missouri.
It caught the attention of Speaker of the House Jon Patterson
As well as the leadership of the LSR7 district.
It caught so much attention,
It may become an ACTUAL bill!!!

So when a package came from the Missouri government,
We were really curious what arrived…

It was a resolution from the House
calling out Jackson’s efforts

So proud Jackson!!!
And it came just in time to leverage
In his FIRST Dean’s Award interview…

Bittersweet carpool

Mom and Dad can’t decide if it is AWESOME
We all jump in the car with Jackson
Or TERRIFYING that we all jumped in.
What can we say?
It’s kind of a treat to ride in his car!

Twice in one month???

We had another 3 day weekend in February
And headed back down to the cabin one more time.
The weather was MUCH better
And we spent the whole day outside.
There was some hiking and 4-wheeling
But the big fun was shelter-building…

Weston’s take

Beckett’s take
Been watching lots of Survivor-like shows…

It’s always nice to get away.
Sunsets are just nicer at the lake.

Look out, Ladies!

One last look at this brace-face

Cause they’re off now!
One more kiddo down,
2 braces courses to go…

One last winter meet

The fateful final winter swim meet has arrived
And, as they feared yet anticipated,
B and T are swimming the IM.
It IS a little weird they always get so anxious about it—
They’ve both swam it multiple times.

The meet did not disappoint.
Tucker’s relay took 1st
But the real story was his individual events.
He took nearly a second off his breaststroke
taking 1st at 51.20s.

Even cooler was his IM.
He took 22 seconds off his seed time,
Coming in 2nd at 1:44.78s.
That’s a PR over even his summer Wave time by a second!
He’s not actually alone in the pool here—
He’s just that far ahead of everyone else in his heat.
Awesome work, Tuck!

Beck’s relay took second place
But again, the big news is his individual events.
He didn’t beat his PR
But did take 1st place by over 3 seconds.

And again, the IM is the showstopper—
He took 12 seconds off his seed time
Setting a new PR (faster than HIS Waves’ time)
Taking 2nd place at 1:29.70.
Great season, boys!
Can’t wait for the next one!

Never too cold for the cabin

With a 3 day weekend
And no visit since Thanksgiving,
Even the cold couldn’t keep up from getting down to the cabin

We’ve skied Minnesota in single digits—
We can brave Missouri in the 20’s!

We took a walk
Pay no attention to anything here…

We rode 4 wheelers

We shot our BB guns—
Including the new one with the Scope Beck got for Christmas!

We spent a lot of time watching SNL
(The 1st episode and the 50 year anniversary episode)
But we still managed to squeeze in some poker
(Although we may have been up until 3am…)
Always a good time,
Regardless of the weather!

Killing it on the court

The Kings pulled off a narrow victory today
Against a really tough team.
Even better—
Their teacher was there to cheer them on!

Shedding time

Another successful Friday night meet!

Tucker’s free relay SMASHED the others
Coming in 1st by over 13 seconds.
He somehow got slotted for 3 individual events
(The only kiddo on the team with 3!)
And he made the most of them.
He took 4th in back at 50.74s
And 2nd in free at 37.25s
And no surprise here—
He took 1st in breast, nearly a full second
in front of the nearest competition!

Beck’s relay, despite technically being the “B” team,
Came in a decisive 1st by over 1.5 seconds.
As for his individual events,
He took over 2 seconds off his previous time in back,
Coming in 2nd place at 44 seconds flat
It was his first time swimming fly this season.
He took 3.5 seconds off his old time
Coming in 6th at 46.39s.

Lots of progress being made!
One more meet to go…

One last elementary school Valentine’s

Just like the Fall Party in October,
The countdown is on (or over) for the last spring party.

This amazing claw machine may be the last Valentine’s box
The Reeds ever make
(No one can remember if 5th graders make one)
It was pretty outstanding!

And Mom came up for one last
Valentine’s Day party in the gym

12-ish years?
It was a great run!

Not so 3-peat…

We gathered with our friends,
We wore all the lucky gear,
We ate all the NOLA food,
But, alas, the Chief lost HARD to the Eagles.
Whelp, it was bound to end at some point.
On to next season!

Don’t mess with Wes

Wes had his last JV tournament this weekend—
Sort of the champs for JV

You could say he had a pretty good day…
Hard to see?
That’s a win by fall (pin) at 21 seconds in Round 1
Win by fall at 3:16 in Round 2
Win by fall at 48 seconds in Round 3
And win by fall at 2 minutes in Round 4

Which means this:

First place in your last tournament of the year?!?!?
Way to go, Wes!!!

Relaxing at home

We were going to race to the cabin this morning
(It’s been too long!)
But we were exhausted from a busy week…
But not so exhausted we couldn’t do some things around KC!

We hit up Chicken and Pickle,
Had drinks and played Scrabble at Cinder Block Brewery,
And then tried out this AMAZING burger joint in NKC
Called Tay’s—10 thumbs up!!!

We had to hike off all those calories on Sunday

But how could we not go outside and enjoy the 60 degree
February day???
It wasn’t quite the R&R of the Cabin,
But it filled our cup pretty well.
