Rounding out the swim season

The Bigs had one last regular season meet tonight.

Jack, in the far lane, got a quick start in the 200:

He took off 4 seconds
With a new PR of 2:14.24
Coming in 7th overall.

He swam the 100 as well—no PR there.

Wes had a good night in the 50,
Taking off over 1 second
For a new PR of 31.49 seconds

He swam the 100 back again as well—
No PR there but he said it felt like a good swim.
They both swam the 400 relay,
On 2 different teams.
Mom’s dream—to one day swim a relay together…
Up next—
JV conference!

Belated bday party

We had a family fish fry for our September
And October birthdays…
Dad

And Uncle Kurt

Here’s to another great year!

Better than Top Golf

Have you heard of Golf Ranch?
Neither had we!
And wow, were we missing out!

You buy a bucket of balls
And spend all the time you like at your bay

Which was good…
Because we needed a lot of time.

They had a deal where you also got
EIGHTEEN holes of mini-golf
With your bucket of balls.
What?!?!

We prefer to take the tricky shots
Trickily…

We make all the golf look good

Golf Ranch…
We’ll be back!

One last big game

I’m so sad my first tackle football season is coming to a close.
We haven’t won any games
But we have learned a ton.
We’re pretty excited to play an evenly matched team for our last game.
We’re pretty nervous since we only have 1 sub.
Out go the captains

And away we go!

We played a heck of a game.
I had a break-away, 45 yard touchdown on the 3rd or 4th play of the game.
It was so awesome!

And then it got called back for an illegal block in the back.

We kept battling.
We stopped them with our defense.
We pushed with our offense.

It was tied 6 to 6 at halftime.

We kept battling.
Do you see me?
I’m the one on the right,
Dragging the tackle with me.
Playing with only 1 sub is hard.
I didn’t come out once.
I made some awesome tackles
And missed some tackles.
We made some great plays
And got stopped on some plays.

If heart could win games alone, we ran away with that game.
But, unfortunately, it comes down points
And we couldn’t come up with enough.

We ended the season 0-7.
We had really hoped for a win
But we’ll take our 2 touchdowns as a consolation prize.
And man, did I learn a lot.

I’m bummed to be done this season,
But already counting the days
Until I get to put on a Bison jersey next year.
Hanging up my Broncos 22 jersey…
For now.

Our first Race for the Future

Well, it’s sort of our second—
We ran a virtual one during COVID…
But today,
We’re up bright and early
And ready to run with the crowd!
(Wes is at band
And Jack has to work—
The 4 of us will carry on!)

It was a big race
With over 550 runners.
We were pretty proud of our results:
A new PR for Mom!

A tough one for Tuck—
He got a side cramp he couldn’t shake.

Beck was pretty proud of this one—
Running a 5K felt a lot different from his standand
Cross country 1.5 mile races

Dad crushed it as always

Don’t mind us,
We’ll just be here catching our breath
Enjoying the post-run coffee and donuts
The crazy part?
This is just the beginning of our day!

Friday night…waves

A bit unusual for timing
But sure, we’ll spend Friday night at the pool!

Weston had a great night
He dropped 2.6 seconds in the 200 free with a new PR of 2:34.19
And dropped 9.67 seconds in the 500 free, new PR of 7:04.78.

Jack had a good night too
He dropped 1.14 seconds (whoa!) in the 50 free with a new PR of 26.65.
He came in first in his heat,
Which you can see we were all pretty excited about
A good swim in the 100 free but no PR
But his free relay got 3rd!
We’ll take it!

Jammin’

We’re cohosting the swim team pasta party
Our our friends’ the Spieths’ tonight.
The pasta was good
But the music room was better…

Patiently waiting

They’ll be home soon.
I just have to wait.

One last invitational

Mom couldn’t be here tonight (working)

But Dad captured some good pictures for her.

I made the invitational team again

And I came in 31st of 99, 5th of 10 on the ETMS B team

I got to go to every invitational
And ran B Team the majority of meets.
I’m pretty proud of my 6th grade season.
Not too shabby for one of the youngest on the team!

Just keep swimming

Another afternoon pushing in the pool—
We’re fighting off some cold or flu so we aren’t quite feeling up to all this
But we’ll give it our best.
Weston swam the 200, adding a few seconds to his time
He swam the 100 back as well for the first time
Coming in at 1:17.39.
He put himself out there for the 400 relay too.
Whew.  It was a struggle but he made it through.

Jackson swam the 100, just barely over his seed time
Coming in at 1:00.57
He wasn’t able to swim his other events—
Just not feeling up to it.

Ugh.
Hopefully we’re feeling better by our next meet on Friday.

Happy birthday, Daddo!

It was kind of a crazy night
With everyone going in a million directions.
But we managed to all land at home
Just in time to give Dad a gift or two
And stuff ourselves with too many Crumbl cookies.
Love you Dad!
Happy 46!

Taking on the City

Today was the Lee’s Summit middle school
All-city Meet.
Beck was a bit disappointed to run on C team—
7 run A, 7 run B and as number 15,
The math works out.
The silver lining?
He was determined to place in the top 20
And get a medal.

80 boys lined up…
And took off.

We watched them run around the loop…
And doesn’t that guy in 2nd look a lot like Beckett?

It IS Beckett!!!

He ran a great pace
But got passed in the final section
(That kid was clearly drafting off of him)

But goal ACHIEVED!
He got 3rd!
1.5 miles in 10:01.47.
He would have placed 20th in the B race
(But he did beat one of his B race teammates…)

Awesome race, Beck!

We’re so proud!

Cheat code strikes again

Today Tucker’s team played
the other 1st place team in their league.
It was INTENSE!

But Tucker’s speed came in handy as always
And the Chiefs walked away with a 16-14 victory
(Including 1 of his breakaway touchdowns)

And look who came to cheer him on!
The whole family was there—
Mema and Pappo,
Klusmeyers,
And Grandma P and Papa Kim.
He was a bit embarrassed at all the attention.

It didn’t slow him down though—
He led his team to ANOTHER victory the next day—
With THREE breakaway touchdowns!
Coach Jason actually pulled him for a bit
So we didn’t drive the score up too high.
It ended 34-6.

Oooo, the playoffs are looking GOOOOD!

Our first invitational

Beckett was PSYCHED to make the top 18 boys
And get to run in the Buffalo Stampede Invitational.
We’d never been to an invitational meet before—
There were a LOT of kids

236 in the B heat
To be exact

There were a few enormous hills
But Beck ran a great race.

He came in 38th in his heat
(1.5 miles, 10:27.1)
And even beat about 40 of the kids in the A heat.
Must have been that Grandma Support egging him on!
Nice run, Beck!

The second-to-last Walk to School Day

Wow.  We have literally been celebrating
Walk to School Day for 12 years.
What started as a walk with all 6 of us
Has slowly dwindled to 3

Doesn’t make it any less fun
And actually,
May make it a bit more special.
One more year to go…
