Qualifying for State...#archerygoals

Two more tournaments of the season.

First, my biggest one yet--

there were over 70 archers shooting at once!

I got my highest score yet--

A HUGE 216!!!

My goal for the year was to break 200.

When I broke that last week,

I decided to aim for 210--the state qualifying score.

Gotta up my bar again!

My fans gathered for my last tournament of the year

Here we go!

My best bullseye yet--229!

And 3D?

220.

Another state qualifying score!

Our cheer?

"Don't suck!"

A whole lot of improvement,

from 137 to 229

and 141 to 220

I may have to do this again next year!

Date Night with the Boss

Uncle Adam's job comes with some serious perks.

Like concerts in the suite.

Like the REAL suite this time.

Mom and Dad got to hang with Adam and Michelle

at the Bruce Springsteen concert tonight

Man.

Why doesn't MOM'S job have any cool perks?

 

King x2!

I have LOVED basketball.

Beck and I have been in the driveway 

playing more in the last 3 weeks

than in the 3 years the goal has been up.

All that hard work paid off!

I was crowned King of the Court again today

by my coaches

for my great attitude and hard work.

I wear it proudly.

 

Get up, get up...with the Howling Huskies!

I've really enjoyed choir this year.

I'm constantly singing songs around the house

that inevitably get stuck in everyone's head.

Today at the Optimist Club Pancake Breakfast,

 Mom and Dad finally got to hear

one of those songs in its entirety! 

We sang one slow song...

but then we sang "Get Up, Get Up"

and Mom had heard it so many times,

she could even sing along in parts

And now...

on to our next set list!

6 teeth later...

I was cursed with the Reed/Woods mouth--

too many teeth for too small of a space.

So just like Jack, 

I had to get some baby teeth AND adult teeth pulled

Ugh.

Well, glad that's over.

When do I go to the orthodontist?

Pizza and a Parade

We considered driving to the parade today--

we're out of school,

Mom took the afternoon off,

the weather isn't terrible.

But then we thought about an afternoon

at Martin City

with food and drinks and seats and heat and family...

and then the choice was obvious

 

A low-key Valentine's dinner

After our big night out at Arcade Alley

and Coopershawk,

we were keeping it chill

on Valentine's Day.

Mom took us to get Super Bowl champs gear

I love my flat brimmed hats

And then we had hot dogs and mac & cheese

for a good and ironic romantic meal

We don't have school tomorrow

thanks to the Super Bowl parade

so we splurged with Crumbl cookies

and a competitive game of Pictionary--

Team Blue vs Team Brown.

The Brown (eyed) team smoked us.

We're already looking for a rematch.

A night with the people we love...

sounds good and romantic (and cheesy) to me!

 

Gotta love a school party

Mom had to work during Tucker's party--

but it looks like he had a good time

all the same!

But she WAS able to work at mine!

We played a ton of games,

but Mom's human ring toss

was the best

Thanks for coming!

 

SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!

We were PSYCHED for the Super Bowl!

We had special drinks,

chicken and waffles,

special desserts,

and a lot of heart-pumping,

sweat-inducing,

scream-filled fun

watching the game.

All that resulted in

A CHIEFS WIN!

Icing on the cake--

no school Wednesday for the parade!

 

Making boxes

It's hard not to be inspired by all the Chief's excitement

when you are trying to come up with ideas

for your Valentine's Day box...

A Mahomes jersey for me

and a Flappy Bird game for Beck.

Ready for the party!

The weekend hustle...

THIS is going to be a whirlwind of a weekend!

Let's start it with a big Red Friday--

GO CHIEFS!

Friday night,

we have our 2nd swim meet of the season.  

Beck was not pleased to not swim breaststroke

(it's by far his favorite stroke).

But how can you not smile

with these numbers:

free relay, 1st place (by 12 seconds!)

backstroke, 3rd place at 49.66 seconds and

freestyle, 2nd place and a PR by 6 seconds at 42.44

I had a good night too:

free relay, 4th place

butterfly, 11th place and a PR by 18 seconds (!!!) at 51.84 and

freestyle, at tie for 7th and a PR by 8 seconds at 39.52

We finished the night with tacos and margaritas

with swim friends--great start to the weekend for sure!

Tucker had an awesome day on the court

with his first set of free throws

and a Warriors win

And then I had my best day yet in archery.

I got a 201 in bullseye, missing state qualify by 9 points.

I got a 179 in 3D, missing state by 11 points...

but I finally got one of them in the balls!

(and I wasn't even aiming for them!)

With Valentine's coming up next week,

Mom and Dad thought we should celebrate

was a (really) nice dinner at Coopershawk.

With a 2 hour wait, 

we hit up Arcade Alley first

which made our whole weekend.

Whew!

That was just the first 36 hours!

Wonder what Sunday holds...

 

It's about time!

My birthday was a little over 2 months ago

but we've been pretty busy

(and Mom and Dad think I've been pretty nervous)

but today was the day...

I got my driver's permit!

Coming soon to a parking lot near you!

(gotta warm up somewhere!)

All the tromping

Winter at the Cabin is so different

from summertime.

Things just feel more laid back.

While Dad was rebuilding the Ranger

(add something else to his skill set!),

Mom went for a run

and we grabbed our keys

(thanks for the rack, Weston!)

and followed on the 4-wheelers.

There were some awesome puddles and mudpiles

to drive through--

ask to see Mom's slo-mo video!

We were excited to find ice on the lake

We were even more excited to head to Dave Rock again

to explore with Cooper and Thea

It was a lovely late afternoon

perfect for tromping through the woods

We were fascinated by the varieties of moss

all over the rocks

The Golden Hour

called for some pictures

I mean,

how can you not take pictures of this nugget???

She wanted to stop and touch everything

We're all about the action shots

Me too, Mom!

We settled in for a chill evening

of chess,

Harry Potter quizzes

(lots of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws

with a splash of Hufflepuff and Slytherin)

and DART!

We didn't even know we had darts!

Mmm.

And fireplace s'mores

We spent all day Sunday

tromping and exploring too.

There was ice on the pond

which meant we needed to stand on it

and Jack spent all weekend

with some help from Aunt Mandy and Uncle Kurt

clearing a path

and making an awesome 4-wheeler path

down by the pond

It is SO FUN!

I can't decide which is better--up or down
