Wrapping it all up

We had our Waves banquet tonight

full of awards and fun.

My family was so proud

when I won Most Improved for my age

dropping 17% of my time

throughout the season

It was a good first year

The 8 and under crew

The 9 and 10's

The 11 and 12's

But wait!

Are these the 35 and overs?

Mom and some of the other moms

joined forces for a relay race

complete with sharpie on their arms

It wasn't a serious race...

but they sure took it seriously!

It was an awesome season.

Can't wait for next year!

Rockin' the pool

Well, we're back for night 2!

We're pumped to see

what today brings!

And Mom can't get enough

swim pictures.

We needed our back swag

Knowing that there was money

on the line,

we stepped up our game

just a bit more.

I swam backstroke for my 8 and under

medley relay,

but unfortunately,

we got DQ'd.

I was determined to bring it back.

Up next was freestyle.

I came in at 33.65sec.

The first time I haven't set a PR

ALL YEAR.

Boo.

But I was the 6th fastest 6 year old

and came in 56th out of 85 swimmers.

That's not too shabby.

Wes?

He came in at 23.39 sec.

Missed his PR too.

We both swam backstroke:

42.19 sec for me

(again, my first non-PR of the season)

but I was the 4th fastest 6 year old

and 46 out of 72 swimmers

Wes got 30.15 sec...

just missed his PR too.

Then Wes had breaststroke.

Mom and Dad thought he looked

AMAZING.

Well, he did something right

because he came in at 32.53sec,

taking 3.5 seconds off!

$5 for Weston

(which he promptly spent

on a Hawaiian ice)

We finished up

with a 15th place

and 16th place finish

in the freestyle relays

After all that hard work,

we waited patiently for the results.

Windsboro came in 1st for the Spirit Award

and 3rd overall

We were pretty pleased with that!

The whole team headed to Sonic

to celebrate!

(50 swimmers and families at Sonic

at 11pm on a Saturday night...

they were a little overwhelmed) 

It was a heck of a season!

Championships, here we come!

We've been working towards this

for weeks now...

(did you notice what my shirt says?) 

We moved into Tent Village

and settled in for a long weekend

What are we waiting for?

CHAMPIONSHIPS!

This year is a bit different.

I swam Friday night

and Beck and Wes swam Saturday.

After some inspiration from some other

swim parents,

Mom and Dad offered $5

for each personal record we set

at Championships.

That gave us some motivation!

Let's break it down...

I swam freestyle for my medley relay--

we got 9th

Next was freestyle--

I came in at 47.47 sec...not a PR

But then,

I swam backstroke--

56.46sec, a PR by a whole 1.5 seconds!

Up next was breaststroke.

This is a newer stroke for me,

with opportunity for improvement.

I came in at 1:16.65--

taking off a whole 8 SECONDS!

Last but not least on Friday night

was everyone's favorite--

the freestyle relay.

Our teammates even came down

to psych us up!

We came in 11th.

But boy did we swim our hearts out.

Let's see what tomorrow brings...

One more meet...

It's a lovely evening for some swimming

and some wrestling

and some palling around

and, of course,

some swimming!

I shaved 1 second off my backstroke (36.45s)

and a whole FIVE SECONDS off my freestyle! (28.27s)

Jack finally had some successes, taking 3 seconds off last week's freestyle, 

coming in at 48.93s.

He's been working hard on his flip turns.

It's paying off.

He took 4 seconds off his last backstroke,

coming in at 58.72s.

His breaststroke is looking really strong,

but came up just short of a PR--

1:16.38

And Wes?

Free 22.74s,

Back 28.71s

Breast 33.97s.

No PRs this week

It was a mixed night for swimming,

but a great night for our company!

Mema and Grandpa came for the meet!

So guess what?

This calls for ice cream...

We can't get enough!

We want more boating!

Dad inflated the hotdog

and we all hopped on for a spin

Hold on!

Mom's driving!

We love this thing

In addition to inflatables,

another favorite pastime is

"Take Pappo's Money"--

he asks us each a trivia question

and if we get it right,

we win a Washington

(that's $1).

Sometimes he'll give us a few chances.

Or 20.

We may have taken some glasses too

On our last day,

we did something we may not ever

get to do again.

The base of this cliff is usually 30+ feet

out of the water

(the top is over 100 feet up)

but with the water waaaay up,

we could shimmy up the rocks

and explore all the caves and jetties.

It was amazing.

We could have stayed up there all day!

And it was a heck of a day!
