Belated fireworks

Our new cabin tradition...
stopping for CornNuts and drinks

Yep, that's right--
we're headed to the cabin again!
We may have missed the Fourth,
but all our cousins did too.
So let's party it up now!

Tuck's ready to party

We had some unfinished business
with Grandpa

Surprise!
A Father's Day (well, Grandfather's Day)
t-shirt!

I think he liked it

Now then,
we have important things to do!
Go for a ride in the Ranger

Paint our names on the back of
"Turty," the turtle we caught

Shoot off some smoke bombs

and parachutes

And play with the frogs and bugs

We spent most of the afternoon on the water.
There was a lot of time with Uncle Jerry,
the big blue mat.

And Tucker tried out a new ride

He was actually pretty happy in it

Ok, really happy!

Peek-a-boo!

The best part of the day
was...tubing!

Yep,
that would be 5 cousins in a tube!

SO FUN!

Only one thing could make this day better...
fireworks!

It may be the 9th,
but it feels like the 4th!

The next day
we hit the water with Uncle Jerry again

This time,
Tucker jumped on

He had a good time
chasing me around

He got pretty brave
and even stepped off a few times
into Mom's arms
4 wheelers, tubing, fireworks, swimming...
this is what summer is all about!

Earning our ribbons

It's Wednesday again...
you know what that means...

Today was a big day.
Weston swam 25 free and the free relay.
I made the medley relay team,
25 back, 25 free,
and the free relay team.

It was a great meet.
It called for celebratory ice cream.

Weston unfortunately added another 6 seconds to his freestyle,
coming in a little over 58 seconds.
But, his relay team came in 3rd!
(we won't worry that it was out of 3 team... :) )

I ROCKED!
My medley relay took 2nd.
I shaved off 4 seconds from my freestyle
coming in a little over 29 seconds--1st in my heat
and 7th overall.
I took 2 seconds off my backstroke coming in
at a little over 37 seconds and 4th overall.
And Wes and I were on the same relay team...
Hard work pays off!!!

Checking out Pomme

Everyone at our cabin was headed home today
(including Mom, who went in to work at 6am!)
so we thought it was a good day to visit
Grandma P and Papa K's place
down on Pomme de Terre

We met up with Austin and Mikayla
and got a chance to fish
and swim

We had a tasty dinner
and time to chat

And we topped off the night with fireworks

It was a good day.

A quick trip

Mom had to work most of the holiday weekend
but we were able to squeeze in 24 hours at the cabin!

We rode our 4 wheelers down to the lake
and Aunt Mandy and Uncle Kurt took us out for a swim

We look rather studly in our life jackets and helmets
don't you think?

Yep,
definitely like a couple of studs.

After dinner,
once we were all cleaned up,
everybody wanted to sit on the 4 wheelers

Me and Tuck

Wes and B

We had to go harass Aunt Mandy on hers too

We had a little fireworks show

And a few sparklers

And there's always time for a project!
Not a bad 24 hours...

Bedtime story

Most of the time for the last year or so,
Mom has to wish Tucker away
so he can get to bed.

We love the rare night she sits up and reads with us!
How long until Tucker can stay up with the big boys???

Getting crafty

Why buy a 4th of July shirt
when you can make one???

Jackson

Weston
(it's our cabin with a tree house on the right
and people roasting s'mores and shooting off fireworks on the left)

Tucker

And Beckett
(it ranges from dinosaurs to people making s'mores
to people shooting off fireworks
to whatever Weston just suggested it is...)

They look pretty good on, too!

Party in the street

It's Mom's turn to work 4th of July,
so we were sticking around town this year
instead of heading to the cabin.

But that's ok!
We got to see all the Lee's Summit festivities!

We had a HUGE block party
with all our friends and their friends

We got a bounce house

Played all sorts of games like hide and seek and tag.
And generally hung out,
eating some great food and
chilling with friends.

This was the first time Tucker saw fireworks

And the Legacy Blast
didn't disappoint.
Not too shabby for being stuck in the city!
