Cody, day 1--Hills and Rodeos

Well, we got in pretty late last night,
so we got up this morning and played like usual
(in our underwear, as usual)

But then,
we looked out our window
Holy cow!
We couldn't see all the mountains in the dark!

We hurriedly ate a breakfast snack
of champions...

...donuts...

Our view from the breakfast table

Well, what are we waiting for?
Let's get out there!

Hiking was a ton of fun

There were lots of good peaks to get a view from

A brief rest

Up we go

All the boys

Another brief pause

The view was worth the climb

Awesome!

Our cabin,
waaaaaay down there

A family pic
(we'll photoshop Beck in later--
he was napping)

Me and Dad

Wes and Papa Bear

Gorgeous

Some cool things along the way:
Cactus

Wyoming's state flower,
Indian paint brush

A cool rock with lots of vegetation

The climb down was easier than the climb up!

Look at all the wildflowers we found!

In the afternoon,
we hung around the cabin and took a break for a bit.

There were plenty of things to look at

Beck did some rock climbing

On top!

And learned how to sit on a step

Happy hour, anyone?

THIS is a vacation!

Dad took B for a mini-hike

And then we headed into town
for dinner and a show

But the night didn't end there!
Next...
The RODEO!

Wes got his face painted
by a real bullfighter

Nice!

Ready for some action!

Yee-haw!
Hold on!

They let 2 calves out
with ribbons on their tails.
The kids who caught the ribbons
won a prize.
Fun, huh?
We were too nervous to join in.
Maybe next year.

And as the moon rose over Cody,
we headed home to rest up for tomorrow.
Day one--done.
Awesome.
